First of all It pains me after 36 years of doing tile work and always putting customers first that a review of this caliber would be unjustly posted. I bent over backwards to please this customer even to the point of changing the floor reluctantly to please the lady of the house to then be accused of unprofessional work due to the customers insistence upon the change. I have many reviews both here on thumbtack and my web site that state my willingness to put the customer first and my commitment to quality and customer service and I continue to run my business in this manner and try to satisfy all my clients sometimes at my own personal expense After reading this review several times I find only 2 true statements within all of this cigs in driveway may be true and floor was possibly damaged when customer continued to walk on it every time before dry (floor was repaired twice each time customer walked on before dry) This customer was informed to not walk on their wet marble floor for 24 hours until It was dry. The next morning When I arrived Back on the job It was obvious the floor had been walked on within hours of the installation and the grout and thin set was forced up through all the grout joints and all the tiles were loosened. It took hours to remove and reinstall the floor back to new status. Again next day was damaged again by being walked on. It was a constant battle to install a marble floor with the customer walking on it within hours of it being laid. response This floor slant to the drain was Changed against my advise upon the customer request. The wife did not like the slant to the drain and said " I feel like I'm on a hill" I advised her that It needed to slant to the drain so the water would flow to the drain. She insisted against my constant objections that I remove the laid tile and raise the drain 3/4 of a inch higher to minimize the slope .finally after hours of discussion I did what was demanded from the customer even though I advised over and over again that it may not drain correctly. Then at the end of the job John (the husband) called me with complaint of not quick drainage. I explained the situation and he got very angry and told me " don't blame his wife for my shoddy work" I offered to install new tile on the floor back to the original slant with me paying for new shower floor tile but instead he said my work was so bad he wanted to have someone else do the floor. He wanted me to pay him $1500 to redo the shower floor on a job that was a total cost of $1700 for shower walls, floor, outside floor, curb , custom design soap dish ect. the original charge to do his floor was $300 . I again offered to take more time to come out and address all his issues and redo anything on his job so as he would be satisfied. This was not satisfactory to him and he insisted upon 85% of the money for the job returned. I never agreed upon this and told him I stood behind all work done by me and would gladly address any issue he had on his job. It seemed he just wanted to get the job for 15% of the true cost Response I never agreed in any way to his terms Instead I stuck to the reasonable response to come back out and fix any of his concerns even fix the Floor AGAIN that he walked on numerous times before dry. And fix the shower floor that was changed against my advice (even Buying the new shower floor tile at My own cost) But each time he refused and insisted upon a large amount of money back which I always insisted was unreasonable RESPONSE there was never any thin set or grout cleaned out or dis guarded in his house . All buckets were washed and cleaned out back of his house in the wooded area which was very minimal. MY MISTAKE on this job was going over board to try to please this customer to the point of making insisted changes in the shower and not charging them high prices for repairs of walked on tile so as they would stop walking on it before it was dry
 
Now I have to make a point here that all these sites BBB  yelp  yahoo ect all allow reviews on businesses  and any one can post  including competitors disgruntled employees  or any one who may be angry with you for any reason.. I have pictures of almost every job I do now not only for references but for protection sake as well. It saddens me that I have to do this just to cover my butt
but its customers like the one above that force us good hearted honest business people to be suspicious of every job we price install or consider doing. No one seems to take responsibility for their choices any more and are always looking to blame someone else. I take great pride in all my work from the smallest bathroom floor to the   entire bathroom remodel.
